I've downloaded the MX Editor for the MX-880 (which I understand has similar architecture) from URC and tried the "Mute and Power On" battery installation procedure to see if I can get it to go into the mode to download the software from the MX Editor. I don't want to get a virus laden, illicit copy of CCP from a non-authorized source. And because I opened the box and it's been more than 30 days since I bought it (long story, but I wasn't in a huge hurry to use it at first), he won't accept it for return. That bumps the cost of the MX-780 from $300 to $500, which isn't worth it for my system. Instead, he wants to charge me $200 for one of his installers to come out and program the remote for a pretty simple set up. I'm sure I can use CCP, but the manager at Magnolia won't let me have a copy of it. Unfortunately, when I bought the MX-780, I didn't realize that URC had moved to CCP. I've been programming for over 20 years, so the MX Editor is child's play. I am an above average DIY AV user/programmer. I purchased an MX-780 from an authorized URC distributor (Magnolia at Best Buy in Mission Valley, San Diego) to replace an MX-700 that I've had for many years.
